Spring is coming to Texas.

Watch for the Bluebonnets! Watch for all the snakes starting to come out. Watch for all the half naked women too! Always a plus. I really love the spring time. Its got to be one of the best times of the year. The mornings with fog that hold all the odors of the country. Cow patties and chicken crap and the smell of the old grasses and weeds from the previous year that give that mulch pile aroma. Oh and can't forget tha skunk smell! That is country fresh........

Sheep farm!

Here is a photo of three of our sheep. This is Stevie, Sheila and Buttons. These sheep are supposed to be Barbado but i think they're Corsican. Anyhow another guy told me they are Texas Painted Desert Sheep. Which ever they are they are pretty easy to raise. They are pretty resilient to disease and just about anything else thrown at them. Smarts? Well, lets say there is a few marbles missing from their sack. Stevie with the big horns is pretty mean if you jack with the females or the deer that hangs around here. The deer is afraid of the ram but pretty much sets the bar with ewes in the pen. She will hoof them and chase them. Then the ram gets worked up and goes crazy chasing all them. Pretty dumb but very comical.

Spring drop...

Deer across texas are dropping fawns. The deer that hangs around the house has yet to drop a fawn however. Maybe she was not carrying this year. This time of year is really nice with the cools nights and warm days. The only down side is the damn chiggers. I hate those little welp making itch creating bastards. Anyhow heres a parting shot of a texas whitetail doe.

Whoohoo! Man have I been busy. Pretty much just tied up doing all sorts of things. Mowing and working and doing things at my moms house. I am still here and haven't had much time to hunt much of anything. Here's a picture that will have you wishing for cooler weather pretty soon!

DOE A DEER A FEMALE DEER!

It is that time of the year. We have a fawn hanging around the house. Haven't seen mom but fawn is doing great. We have had also two new twin Barbie doe rams born. I'll get pictures of Buttons and Phillup Ma Crack on here soon. We got moved into our newly remodeled house back in October. Been really busy and not posting. I have a life beyond this computer stuff. Computers can really ruin normal life if you don't watch out. I got a picture of doe fawn here. We gave the damn thing a name. Sally Sue????? Don't ask me ask the woman she'll tell ya why.

Too hot for anything!

It has been pretty quiet around my cameras lately. Plus being so hot that the sensor on the camera does not activate. Pigs have a temp about 104 and deer 102 or so. When its 105 or 6 or 7 no pictures will usually be taken. So these pictures are from about 2 or 3 months ago.

LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT YEARS RUT!!!

Well if you saw some nice deer this year and you didn't shoot them. Your most likely looking forward to next year's rut. This was the first year I based my days out on the moon phase. A guy I work with said it is the hottest point of the rut during a full moon. So really there could be 3 ruts possibly 4, but I tested his method and it seems to be a good tactic. With my slug gun in hand I made for the woods. I can only hunt hogs so I figured hog hunt and practice my whitetail skills. In a previous post I mentioned I saw a good buck and later posted the picture. I hope to see him again this year and get more shots of him. I will leave the house religiously with video camera in hand. I just hope I can hold the damn thing still enough to get a good picture or video of him. I scanned him and zoomed in on him pretty good for a good look of his rack. Enjoy!
