Picture of Big Boy!

Well I said I saw a big one so here we go. We went to check on the hog feeders yesterday and had a full roll of film. I, as usual, get all excited. I get that way cause I want to get pictures of these really big deer I got hanging around my neck of the woods. He's pretty freakish but has pretty good mass. I'm not too good on aging deer on the hoof or guessing his BC score but man this boy excites me. So If there is any of you who got a score and age guess let me know your thoughts. Well I am all pumped up so I will sign off with a shot of the big boy above. Just to give you an Idea of his size I have included one more shot of the same spot with a doe there instead of him. His body is heavy also.

Texas Deer

Even though I can't hunt the deer I'll be posting cause of restrictions in the county where they reside I will post them anyhow. I got some video of two monsters one is 12 to 14 points but not very heavy. The other partner of his is the big boy he is a main frame 4x4 with heavy heavy horns and a couple of kickers here and there. While hog hunting this place I discovered I have got good company. I have seen some deer and a few little strapping young bucks. I always knew there had to be some big ones. Considering I have been hunting pigs for about 4 years and only see little deer. Well this past weekend I took my nephew to get a pig and he was in the bottom and I went up on the hill in a treestand. The morning sun rise was great till a little fog front blew in. It got nasty fast with a dipping temp and wet air. With just about no action a few does caught my eye. I usually carry a camera and binoculars with me but had planned on not seeing anything. Here lately there has been a bad drought in north Texas. Most pigs are in one area and that is it. So you find water you find pigs! My morning was about to turn into one of the best hunts ever. Six doe strolled in and suddenly I heard a loud clashing noise. Mind you I can't shoot these deer cause of restrictions. This doesn't mean I can't shoot them with a camera that I didn't bring. Yep you guessed it this huge ass heavy ass deer strolls on I with the does. He gives 3 great broadside poses and his mass was magnificent. So there I was with a gun loaded for pig but only a huge ass deer shows instead. Let me tell you it is the hardest thing I have ever done letting that huge boy walk away with those 6 doe. I had buck fever like you wouldn't believe. I thought the tree I was in was going to collapse and plummet to the ground below. The zippers on my coveralls we going ding ding ding and he was looking everywhere but up where I was. I called every buddy who I knew that hunted and told them. So the day goes as planned and my nephew didn't get a shot at a pig. Now here comes Sunday morning.....You bet it I brought my camera. Now would you believe if I told you I saw a second deer that just about floored me again. This was a 2 deer of a lifetime weekend. This solo searching multi pointed buck comes through at about 40 yards out. He was heavy but not like the other deer the previous day. This guy sported what I thought was only 10 pts. When I got the video home I played with the slow play mode and discovered he was at least 14 pts. What a deer and what a weekend. I am back in those woods asap with the camera going after the big heavy guy. If I get video I'll let you know.
